Passive interaction with forums etc is not necessarily a symptom of lack of engagement. As Nonnecke & Preece (2001) maintain,’ lurking’ is an important aspect of an online community. Reading blogs/forums without commenting on them serves to expand the understanding in the lurker, and also delivers a sense of belonging even if they do not actively engage with the material. Additionally, blogging/posting to forums implies an assumed audience of readers even if they are not visible as commentators, and the semi-public nature of the activity ensures that the blogger is aware of the possibility of disagreement, censure or approval from their readers, enhancing their critical faculties and writing skills.

One of the revolutionary changes that training and development have faced is the move to the internet as a platform for communication and space for training. We are also trying to
understand the rules of the platform. Chief among the rules is the to build applications that harness the network effects to get better the more people use them.
There certainly is merit in collaborative projects.
It has been an accepted fact the social media does not generate little or now pay for participation in the media. They settle for this because of the information that is gleaned
and the information,tools and content are free and they enjoy the participation. There is a growing demand for accountability because some people are inttitled tp know how they content is going to be used or utilized.
